CERTIFIED NURSE PRACTITIONERS

Nurse practitioners are registered nurses who have pursued further academic training. This enables nurse practitioners to provide health care previously offered only by physicians or midwives. Nurse practitioners provide care for basically healthy people with minimal health care problems or provide additional care for clients with health problems being treated and followed by a physician. They also work in collaboration with other members of the health care team. Prevention of health problems and maintenance of existing good health are their primary focus. Especially important is their philosophy of helping individuals find ways to help themselves reach their optimum level of wellness.
